Four Victims Wounded at Howe Community Park – Unsanctioned Gathering Ends in Shooting
On Saturday evening, a large unauthorized party of an estimated several hundred individuals at Howe Community Park in the Arden-Arcade section of Sacramento descended into chaos when 20 to 25 gunshots rang out as law enforcement officers were in the process of clearing the area.
What Happened
Around 6:30 in the evening, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office was alerted concerning individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons at Howe Community Park. A second report indicated a potential fight and people leaving the area quickly.
A sheriff's helicopter was sent to the area and scanned the park but found no evidence of any physical confrontation.
Despite this, a large crowd had assembled at the location for what deputies referred to as an unlawful gathering. Officers surrounded the park, illuminated the area with emergency lights, and gave the crowd approximately 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse over their vehicle speakers.
While deputies were dispersing the crowd, upwards of 20 gunshots rang out — triggering a panicked crowd in all directions.
The Victims
Four shooting victims — three men Howe Community Park shooting 2026 and Howe Community Park shooting 2026 one woman, all believed to be in their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. Two victims had injuries classified as immediate, one was classified with moderate injuries, and one was treated for minor injuries. All four were listed as stable. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire responded and assisted with triage at the park.
Scene Details
The shooting was centered on the Cottage Way corridor side of the park alongside the nearby website Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue in Sacramento. The nearby Home Depot was put under a brief lockdown. Further shell casings were recovered from Cottage Way, with projectile damage found in the wrought iron fencing near the Home Depot — suggesting a shooter firing south from Cottage Way toward the store. CSI investigators and detectives investigated the scene through the night.
What We Know About Suspects
Over law enforcement radio traffic, it was revealed that a vehicle connected more info to the shooting — a Kia — was pulled over in the Solano County area with four occupants detained. Sacramento here County Sheriff's units were dispatched to retrieve the detainees and transport them back to Sacramento County. Surveillance footage confirmed two shooters were involved.
